WHY ARE LASER SESSIONS 4–6 WEEKS APART?
Your hair grows in cycles — and timing matters.
Laser hair removal works most effectively when the hair is in its active growth phase (anagen), because this is when the hair is connected to the follicle and contains enough pigment to absorb the laser energy.
However, not all hairs are in the active phase at the same time.
After each treatment, we allow time for another group of hairs to enter the active growth phase before treating the area again. This is why appointments are normally spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the area being treated and your individual hair growth cycle.
Having treatments too frequently does not necessarily give faster results. Following the correct schedule allows us to target new actively growing hairs at the right time.
Consistency + correct timing = better results.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOUR FIRST SESSION?
Don't expect every hair to disappear immediately — laser hair removal is a process.
During the days and weeks following treatment, successfully treated hairs may gradually shed from the follicles. You may initially think the hair is continuing to grow, when in fact it is working its way out of the skin.
As your course progresses, you may begin to notice:
✓ Slower regrowth
✓ Fewer hairs returning
✓ Finer and softer remaining hair
✓ Less frequent shaving
✓ Smoother-looking skin
The transformation happens progressively, which is why completing your recommended course is important.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Think course, not one treatment.
Everyone is different, so there isn't one number that can be guaranteed for every client.
Your results can depend on your hair colour and thickness, skin type, treatment area, hormones and natural hair-growth cycle.
A course of around 6–8 sessions is commonly recommended as a starting point, although some clients may require additional treatments and occasional maintenance.
At your consultation, we'll assess your skin and hair and create a treatment plan specifically for you.
DON'T WAX BETWEEN YOUR LASER SESSIONS
This is really important.
Laser needs the hair follicle and pigment within the hair to be present in order to target it effectively.
Waxing, sugaring, threading or epilating pulls the hair out from the root — leaving the laser with less of a target.
Between appointments, shaving is the preferred method of hair removal.
Shave it. Don't pull it out.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
For the best possible treatment experience:
Shave the treatment area approximately 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid waxing, sugaring, threading or epilating beforehand.
Avoid tanning and deliberate sun exposure around your treatment course, and always tell me about changes to medication, health, skin condition or recent sun exposure before we begin.
Your skin will be assessed before treatment and settings selected specifically for you.
WHY BOOK A COURSE?
One appointment can only target the hairs that are in the appropriate growth phase at that particular time.
A structured course allows us to treat successive cycles of hair growth, progressively reducing the amount of hair returning.
And there is another advantage:
A course keeps you consistent.
Instead of booking randomly whenever you remember, your appointments can be planned around your hair-growth cycle — helping you stay on track towards your goal.
